Our story
Hi, we're Nick and Kelsie.
Originally from New Zealand, we moved to Sydney nearly ten years ago and quickly discovered the challenge of hot, restless summer nights.
We wanted something more targeted than a pedestal fan and more practical than AC. Nick, an engineer, began experimenting with ways to cool the body while sleeping, and after countless tests and prototypes, created a fan that directs gentle cooling air under the covers, exactly where you need it.
That design became Fantail.
Named after the New Zealand fantail (pīwakawaka), Fantail is a symbol of home for us. The bird's compact, agile nature also inspired our small but powerful design.
After more than three years of testing and refining, we created something quiet, energy efficient, easy to install and compact enough to fit seamlessly into your bed (and your suitcase).
After an encouraging first release in 2025, we're now preparing for full production and working to bring cooler, more comfortable nights to bedrooms around the world.

What we stand for
Fantail exists to help people sleep better. Sleep affects everything: health, focus, mood. Yet it is the thing we compromise on first. Temperature plays a major role in sleep quality and plenty of people simply run warm at night.
Our work is about making cooler sleep reachable without adding unnecessary cost or impact. These are the values behind how we design, build and improve.
